Small changes. Less unnecessary exposure.
A healthier everyday environment begins with practical choices - not fear, perfection, or replacing everything at once.
Understand the reason behind the choice.
Healthy Home is a growing guide to products and simple swaps I actually use or would confidently recommend. The educational value matters more than displaying a long list of things to buy. Start with what needs replacing, what is easy to change, or what would make daily life work better. Small, thoughtful shifts count.
What I use ❤️ A personal favorite in my own home.
What I recommend A useful option worth considering.
Kitchen & Food

You do not need to replace your entire kitchen. As things wear out, I favor durable materials such as glass, stainless steel, enameled cast iron, and thoughtfully chosen cookware - plus reusable options that reduce reliance on disposable plastics.
My practical formula: glass, stainless steel, and cast iron or enamel for cooking and storage; silicone where flexibility or a non-scratch surface is useful.
Glass and Pyrex food storage
What I use ❤️ Durable, reusable, and easy to see through. I use glass containers for storing leftovers and keeping prepared food visible - and have collected plenty over the years.
Mainstays wide-mouth 16-ounce Mason jars
What I use ❤️ A wonderfully flexible staple for pantry storage, leftovers, dressings, ferments, overnight oats, and make-ahead ingredients. They are simple, affordable, and in constant rotation in my kitchen.
DeliOne reusable silicone stretch lids
What I use ❤️ They stretch over bowls, containers, jars, cans, and cut produce, so I can wash and reuse them instead of reaching for plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
Quality stainless-steel cookware and steamer
What I use ❤️ Durable cookware with an uncoated cooking surface can stay useful for decades. My surgical-grade stainless-steel Saladmaster steamer - and some of my pots and pans - have been in service for more than 25 years.
Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 12-piece stainless-steel set
What I recommend A current alternative to my vintage Saladmaster cookware, worth exploring as a durable kitchen foundation.
Le Creuset 6.5-quart enameled cast-iron oven
What I use ❤️ My large Le Creuset pot is the workhorse I reach for when making soups, curries, braises, and other one-pot meals. One useful pot is enough.
Ceramic-coated cookware
What I use - with care A useful nonstick option, with an honest caveat: the coating will not last forever. Moderate heat, hand washing, and non-scratch utensils can help preserve the cooking surface. Stainless steel and enamel remain my durable foundation; ceramic is useful where easy release matters.
Astercook silicone cooking utensil set
What I use ❤️ I reach for silicone utensils for most everyday cooking with ceramic-coated or enameled cookware because they help protect those surfaces from scratches and unnecessary wear. Stainless-steel utensils remain excellent tools for stainless cookware.
Laundry & Cleaning
A simple way to reduce fragrance and unnecessary laundry additives in products that come into prolonged contact with your skin. My two-part laundry routine begins with a fragrance-free wash and finishes with reusable wool dryer balls.
Seventh Generation Sensitive Skin Free & Clear laundry detergent
What I use ❤️ A practical fragrance-free choice for clothing, bedding, and towels.
Dirty Labs wool dryer balls
What I recommend A reusable option worth exploring. My own dryer balls are more than 10 years old and still going strong - one of the easiest Healthy Home swaps I’ve made.
Seventh Generation Free & Clear Dish Liquid
What I use ❤️ This is the fragrance-free dish liquid beside my own kitchen sink.
Seventh Generation Free & Clear All-Purpose Cleaner
What I recommend A practical option to explore for a simpler home routine.
Blueland Fragrance-Free Foaming Hand Soap
What I recommend A refillable option worth exploring for a simpler home routine. Review the current listing and product information.
Sleep & Circadian Environment
The home can help make daytime feel bright and active - and nighttime feel dim, calm, and distinct.
Blackout curtains
What I use ❤️ Curtains, a comfortable sleep mask, or both can make a dark nighttime environment more reliable without turning sleep into a complicated project.
Lynn’s rechargeable red light
What I use ❤️ I keep this little illuwise lamp beside the bed. For overnight bathroom trips, I use its dimmest red setting instead of turning on bright overhead lights - a practical way to move safely while keeping nighttime light exposure low.
Water Filtration
Know your water first. The right filtration system depends on what is in your water and what you want to remove. Review current manufacturer information and appropriate water testing before choosing.
